Supermarket leaders call on government to ramp up renewable energy investment

Supermarket leaders from the likes of TescoMorrisonsMarks and Spencer and the Co-op, are calling on the government to prioritise incentives to encourage greater investment in renewables, and create fairer pricing for green energy for industry and households alike.

In an open letter to No 10, they said this would help reduce energy costs which have “gone up by hundreds of millions of pounds”.

The supermarket leaders, alongside Community Energy England, are also pressing for an overhaul of the planning regime to fast-track new wind and solar schemes to unlock additional renewable energy generation capacity.

It’s great to see many of our partners teaming up to call for improvements to enable deployment of onsite solar generation.

ROOF’s solar PPA product provides clean and cheaper energy, allowing our customers to generate savings on their energy bill.
